Foxwell NT500 VAG Scanner User Feedback

I have been curious about Foxwell products since I came across mentioned of it. I had myself rushed and purchased one Foxwell NT500 VAG scanner. The package finally delivered two weeks ago via DHL in my hands including a main NT500 unit, a memory card, a USB cable, a diagnostic cable and Nylon Carry Pouch, most importantly a manual book.
I already had several chances to hook it up my vehicles and check its functions in the past two weeks. It is my time to give some comment on this lovely Foxwell NT500 scanner.
I have three vehicles, 2005 Fox, 2008 Passat CC and 2009 Audi A8. I had made research to ensure it can work on my vehicle as long as it was not made before 1996 and it was one of VAG vehicle makes.
There are many options on the function menu
-Read Codes
-Freeze Frame Data
-Erase Data
-Custom List
-Active Test
-Advanced ID

Much appreciation was given to the user manual it came with, so much detail information and step-by-step instruction guide. Actually, its intelligent design makes it not difficult to carry out performance.

Foxwell-nt500

NT500 scanner let me to clear all current and stored DTCs from ABS and SRS control model. It is compatible with as easy as 1-2-3 with large TFT color screen which displayed fully ECU information. I also tested O2 sensor and some component, no problem. Yesterday, I even realized a new tech. I had my Audi A8’s brake pad thickness reset.
Every time I saw its function are limited to the level, but it just never stops to surprise me.

If you have bought the NT500 and know clearly about its fundamental characteristics, but not all. The following frequently asked questions may help you a lot during your diagnostic operation.

Q:Does NT500 can be used for Vauxhall?

A: NT500 is only for VAG Group, do not do Vauxhall.

Q:Is there a version of NT500 software that will run on windows 7?

A: No, the latest operating system it can run on is Windows xp.

Q:Will Stanley PAC Software Work For My NT500 Offline Locks?

A: No, the last release of software approved to operate with the NT500 Offline readers is 3.1.66.

Q:My car is 2000 Audi A6 Avant, 2.8L 30 valve non-turbo. Engine code is ATQ, 147KW. I ordered an NT500 on shop but none of the engine codes match up and the tool will not take my vin. Does anyone have a firmware upgrade that would then list my model?

A:you’d better go to http://www.foxwelltech.com to update to latest version, and remember to choose Audi A6 USA/CAN 1998> this car model when you select.

Q:I bought a Foxwell NT500 VAG Scanner, I scanned my car whose model is VW passat 2007 2.0L and found couple of codes. I accidentally deleted all codes before I actually managed to read them. However, there were errors within immobilizer, CAN gateway and Engine, among which there is one in the engine code saying something like mass air flow sensor open or short to ground.
How to fix it?

A:It’s definitely a glow plug. I have meet the same problem on my Laguna, firing on three on a cold start, clouds of smoke, and a slower idle (the more sophisticated electronic in the passat might try to compensate for this), But it starts OK when hot. Tested them once I’d got them out, and one was shot, replaced them and all is OK.

FOXWELL NT510 Radio Coding

Here’s what I did related to radio coding with foxwell NT510 multi-system scanner:

There is a Digital Radio section:

But I did not see any coding options available, just go to read codes

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-2

There is, though, another Radio section:

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-3

In here there are options for Coding and Adaptation:

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-4

NT510 Software coding

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-5

There does not seem to be any documented codes, but if you are aware of what you need to do, it is available:

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-6

FYI… When you access the Radio systems, the radio screen looks like this:

FOXWELL-NT510-Radio-Coding-7

Also, it’s a good idea to mute the radio when you do this or it may scare the tar out of you when it resets.

Review on Foxwell NT510 Multi-system Scanner

Here I want to share a wonderful online shopping experience because of the patient service and cost-effective product, Foxwell NT510 multi-system scanner.

I possessed a small workshop and I usually fixed and sold cars I was familiar with. I mainly worked on Chrysler, vw/Audi, BMW, Ford, and GM. Several days ago, I wanted to look for a scanner which supports full functions for some specific car models. My friend online introduced Nt510 supported my vehicles including Chrysler, VW, BMW. I also had a US made Ford F250 Pickup Truck. It seemed that NT510 did not support ford.So I asked the customer service of shop online if there was better products for me to scan and program features for Chrysler, VW ,BMW and Ford. Besides, if I bought a car brand for NT510, could I full access to all computer features of that vehicle and beyond my basic OBDII readout, such as SRS, ABS, Airbags, etc?

The customer service brought good news for me that their factory just released American ford software the day before yesterday. What a coincidence! I could order it and choose American ford software, but I had to pay for the additional software for Chrysler. I accepted the price and purchased it.

After 3 days delivery, I received my package without damage. There was a scan tool, a user guide, a memory card, a USB cable, a CD software and a nylon carry pouch in the package. They provided me free update online before delivery.

foxwell-nt500-package

I tested the function of programming control modules I desired with foxwell NT510 scanner as soon as possible successfully. The only regret was that the NT510 could not disable features like seat belt warning chimes and lights, which was my additional requirement. Even so, I was still satisfied with this shopping experience so much .

Foxwell NT510 Multi-system Scanner for 2004 Chevy & 2006 VW

This blog summarizes my hesitation process on purchasing foxwell multi-system scanner NT510 for my 2004 Chevy and 2006 VW. Sincerely hope to help friends with the same problem.

Car model and year:

A 2004 chevy 2500HD 8.1L and a2006 VW passat 2.0T

The function I want to realize:

Bi-directional control tests and oil light reset.

The tools I want to buy at first:

Foxwell NT 500 and Foxwell NT644

My problem:

NT500 works well for VW but not the same on Chevy. Does NT644 have the same function as NT500? Can foxwell NT644 do well on both VW and Chevy than foxwell NT500? Or could you recommend other device which is better than NT644 and NT500

Answer:

Foxwell NT644 has not cover all functions of NT500. There are two functions NT644 cannot realize:SAS and Bi-directional control tests. Our engineer recommends you to try Foxwell NT510. NT510 support VAG group and GM group, and it covers all functions of NT500.NT510 provides one software for free, and you can buy additional software you need.

My decision at last:

I bought Nt510 finally, and tested the function of oil light reset and bi-directional control test successfully. The operation was not complex for me. In general, my experience with foxwell NT510 was satisfying.

Foxwell NT510 Scanner Test Reports on BMW, Ford, Chevy / GM(Customer Feedback)

This blog records my testing results about what foxwell NT510 scanner can do and cannot do. The test mainly focuses on some models of BMW, Ford and Chevy/GM. So far I have good success with BMW.

Works:

Can find 2 misfires because of bad plugs for 2006 BMW X3

Can diagnose and find bad HAL sensors stopping the roof from retracting for 2009 BMW z4

Can see all appropriate data, clear warnings, etc. for 2002 F250 XLT.

(With manually picking the truck the autoscan worked, this truck doesn’t have to many systems)

Not works:

Cannot work auto pin for Ford& Chevy/GM, you should manually pick the truck.

Uncertain part with issues for Chevy/GM

Can not sure if the scanner can read fault codes and run an autoscan successfully for 2012 Avalanche LTZ.Anyone with NT510 can test this vehicle model and share the result with me.

(Thanks the customer kindly feedback for sharing here)
