Foxwell Bt705 Car Battery Tester Questions & Answers about what it works

Here is a collection of 4 pieces of Foxwell Bt705 Battery Tester Questions & Answers. Hope it enlighten you if you are confused about what it works and not works. PS: more mainly questions and answers will follow in the following days.

Question: Will Foxwell Bt705 check starter draw? What type of information will it give?

Answer: I have run Foxwell Bt705 test only one time since I got mine so haven’t explored all of its functionality yet. The starter test gives the voltage while cranking, cranking time until start and an ok or faulty reading if I recall correctly.

Question: is the power pack for the blue tooth printer 220 volts or 110 and does Foxwell Bt705 need an adapter for USA sockets?

Answer: the power adapter input: 100-240VAC 0.7A 50/60HZ, output: 9V-2000mA. And the power adapter in the US Market is UL CSA.

Question: Will Bt705 accurately load test atv batteries?

Answer: Yes, it can accurately load test car batteryes.

Question: So can i also use Bt705 with the car running in order to see if the alternator is charging the battery? and is there a way to use to test starter?

Answer: Yes, you can view the charging status while running, but it will not test the starter. Best way to test the starter is using an inductive amp clamp…so that means buying another tool.

96 Audi A4 diagnostic tool recommendation – VAGCOM/VCDIS or Foxwell NT510

If you have 96 Audi A4 to access ABS/Air Bag/Instrument Cluster/Etc. To use VAG-COM/VCDIS or Foxwell NT510 VAG scanner tool? Go on reading following parts.

nt510-multi-system-scanner-with-one-free-car-software

Car model and year:

96 Audi A4

Purpose:

Can access the extended functions… (ABS/Air Bag/Instrument Cluster/Etc.)

Tool options:

VAG-COM/VCDIS

Foxwell NT510 vag scanner tool

The reason to use VAG-COM/VCDIS:

I could go VCDS-Lite on a KKL wire… start out for free and then to unlock, locked functions, I spend $99 with Ross-Tech for the license. I do need to buy a KKL wire.

and I would be required to procure a Windows PC/Tablet that I can then use. As far as I can tell, for use with other (newer) Audi/VW I would have to purchase different interface cables.

The reason to use Foxwell NT510 vag scanner tool:

With the Foxwell NT510 vag scanner tool, I should be able to access these systems across a wide range of VW/Audi models, and there would be no need to purchase a Tablet or PC, and it’s lesser cost.

Finally, I have actually decided to buy the Foxwell NT510 Scan tool with VAG models software for free on http://www.foxwelltechshop.com at £165 free shipping. I can’t see the added expenditure for a Laptop/Tablet at this time. Perhaps later on I will invest in VCDS but the Foxwell should do what I need it to do.

Finally working:

When I received, The Foxwell NT510 Scan tool I purchased did exactly what I needed it too. I was able to scan and retrieve codes for my ABS and Airbag systems. Airbag system cleared right away (connected battery while I had the dash out a few years ago) And all is good. Now onto fixing the wheel speed sensor so my car can be code-free for the first time in years.

Cleared the airbag light on an E36 1995-1999 with Foxwell NT510 scanner OK

I have older cars (i.e. E36 1995-1999) to reset air bag lights, I see Foxwell NT510 scanner can read the codes, but I am not sure whether I still need a different ‘un-named’ tool to reset them. Later, foxwell engineer replied me “I cleared the airbag light on an employee’s E36 the other morning with this Foxwell NT510 tool. So the other tool that shall not be named shouldn’t be needed. “That’s great news; I’ve got four E36’s of varying types so it’s about time I got a Foxwell scan tool… I’m glad I held out all these years, and just happened upon the Foxwell tool while placing a parts order at foxwelltechshop.com

09/26/2016, I got mine Foxwell Nt510 bmw scanner! I was able to get the 20 pin adapter to fit in the nice carry bag too. The microSD card is a little hard to get out, but I think I’d rather have it recessed and secure than too easy to bump and have it fall out.

Following list is what I tested ok:

-E36 1995-1999 read the codes OK

-A list of some of the more advance features it can do: Activate abs to bleed brakes, auto bleed smg, clutch adaptations, vanos reset adaptations, read vanos adaptations, smg bleed clutch, etc

– It can reset TC adaptations on the E83 with the current software package, I have not tested this personally.

– Great success! Was able to change the transfer case fluid on the 2007 BMW X3 3.0si and reset the VTG gearbox adaptations. It told me to make sure jumper 15 was set (?) but I did it anyways and it seemed to work.

I accidentally reset the transmission fluid history too, as I didn’t realize there was one, and I thought it was for the transfer case…. the transfer case is the VTG one!

Was not able to reset the standard Oil Service indicator though, as it said the preconditions haven’t been met yet… not sure what those preconditions are however.
Liking the tool more and more as I use it though. With 5 BMWs in the family, it’s a Godsend.

I was working with a cold engine and on an inclined driveway….my Z3s and old M3 don’t care obviously, but they are cars with actual dipsticks! Electronic oil level sensors are a whole different ballgame.

(Solved) Foxwell NT510 BMW Scan – Having trouble trying to do the LVS Reset

This post starts with Foxwell NT510 BMW scanner Update that confirmed working ok, then with the the LVS reset trouble, finally figured it out.

Preface: Foxwell NT510 BMW scanner Update includes (05-10-2016)
Injector Coding confirmed
Vehicle Service confirmed
Coil reset adaptation confirmed
Battery registration confirmed
E-Brake retraction confirmed

There is much more other stuff added, but this was the most important. I was very surprised their was a ignition coil re-calibration (LVS) function when when changing coils. Interesting. Immediately I applies this when I saw it as I am running the new BMW OEM Eldor coils.

Injectors can also be recoded or recalibrated.
Goodbye to the INPA and the Bavarian Technic Tool (BT Tool) and hello to this. Tired of using a laptop, this tool can stay on your car with the bag it comes with.

To see this functions though you will have to select our chassis manually after the Auto VIN search. It then actually pulls the data from the DME instead of pre-loaded data for the model car. It just helps speed things up mainly to read and erase codes. The manually entry gives you everything.

No more freezing when trying to access ABS-DSC modules

(Issue) Having trouble trying to do the LVS reset:

Changed coils plugs and injectors.. All 6, got the injectors coded, but still having issues trying to reset the Coils..

reset-lvs-values-01

Guide:

At what part of the reset are you have an issue with, before or after pulling the key out of the ignition to complete the reset?

At the end When you are instructed to pull the key you must do that first before selecting Ok.

Finally, I figured it out. I got it

Review on BMW & MiNI Diagnosing and Doding with Foxwell NT510 Scan Tool

This post collects Foxwelltechshop.com real users’ good reviews on BMW & MiNI diagnosing and coding with Foxwell NT510 scan tool. They are all real test reports, hope it helps.

I ordered one Foxwell NT510 last Saturday and per FedEx it is scheduled to arrive today. Just the simple fact it can code a battery makes it worth the price of admission.

£159 for something like NT510 with one free car brand software that will retract EPB’s, codes and graphs on top of retrieving BMW specific codes is a good deal.

Received mine Foxwell NT510 today. So far looks great. Everything very user friendly and basic tasks were done in few min after unpacking. Finally no extra lights on the dash. Had many errors and was delaying it, while trying to set up INPA and/or looking for other options.

Cleared almost all errors, now trying to figure out how to program FRM module (first error) and research second (A66A FZD READING FRONT LEFT) which seems to be the one of the reading lamps that has loose connection and i have to bend its housing a bit.

Later will pick up new battery and register that.

I’ve had mine NT510 a few months. I also have the Foxwell NT510 Scan tool (professional version) as well. For the price, the Foxwell tool is worth buying for two reasons: 1) portability and durability, 2) It reads both OBDII codes and has all the functions of a BMW scan tool as well. I keep it in my car. And in fact used it today to read a check engine light (VANOS) solenoid.

I bought the NT510 unit several months ago after my car wouldn’t start and it ended up at the dealership on a flatbed with me not having a clue of what was wrong. I mean Foxwell NT510 BMW scan tool has helped me a lot. It cleared the wear indicators on my transmission and transfer case fluid after I changed them and helped me diagnose a few other things.
It was because I didn’t have it to tell me what was wrong that the car ended up at the dealership.

I set Foxwell NT510 to pull up the live data for the coolant and pump today. Worked like a charm.

Foxwell NT510 has more than paid for itself with airbag & service resets and pointing me towards a faulty vanos (problem gone).
BTW, Mine were related to removing/installing seats on one car. The second car had the passenger occupancy sensor on the passenger front seat go bad.

None were steering wheel related.

FOXWELL NT644 tests ok to reset the service light on VW/Audi up 2010, Fiat 500 and Evoque

Car model:

2010 on wards VW/Audi vehicles, Fiat 500, Land Rover

My Intend/Purpose:

Reset the service lights for 2010 on wards VW/Audi vehicles and Fiat 500.

I try to stick to servicing, tires, brakes and the odd minor repair. I don’t get involved in reading live data stuff because, quite frankly.

I was just looking for something smaller, more modern, with EPB functions and with the ability to reset more service lights.

Where did I buy from?

I’ve just ordered the Foxwell NT644, paid £325 for 4 working days delivery from a trusted authorized foxwell dealer

Paid on PayPal too in case there’s any problems. Oh, and they guarantee that it does the service lights for 2010 on wards VW/Audi vehicles.

It can read and clear fault code on the wife’s Evoque (verified ok):

Tried it out on the wife’s Evoque it showed up two faults when checking all the various systems – gear change module and drivers seat module. Haven’t noticed anything wrong with them so cleared the faults, took it for a quick spin and rechecked them, still all clear so probably something stored from before we bought it. The Evoque still has 21 months of manufacturers guarantee left so if any faults return, back it’ll go!

Conclusion:

That shows I can at least access the various modules. Don’t worry about codes on Land Rovers, any slight over or under voltage will trigger codes in all the modules. That’ll be why the Land rover Assistance tech didn’t notice them a month or so ago when I called them out to look at the key-less entry playing up. That time it needed a new Key less Vehicle Module replacing under warranty. Tech needed a dedicated computer and then he had to phone the results and readings through to a higher level tech to get advice. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of old school cars – adjustable brakes, CB points, idle speed and c.o. mixture, ign timing, valve clearances, clutch free-play, steering boxes, wheel bearings and fan belts. Simpler days, gone forever.

I can’t agree any more, Been looking at getting another Rover SD1 as a project (have had 5 of these things) and fitting a Holley on a V8 so no fuel injection to worry about. Got my eye on a 2.3 auto so that would make an ideal starter for what I want.

The TVR is mega complicated now with all the changes and I don’t have the software to look at it myself. And I really do not like paying mechanics to work on my car…….

The difference in function between the Foxwell and the schawaben branded units

Question: So can anybody confirm the difference in function between the foxwell and the schawaben branded units? The Schwaben unit costs an extra $20 and is a different color, is there anything else lol?

Answer: yes both are 100% the same but the black and grey color. I will explain… Foxwell is the maker of the software and producer of the tool. So, Schwaben and ECS gets their support from Foxwell. I bought the identical scan tools, Foxwell NT510 but at a better price than at ECS, BTW at foxwelltechshop.com. Don’t get me wrong I support them but I get my support directly from Foxwell. Best tool ever, IT CAN do everything. Enjoy.

Mine works great. Found my “SES” light was from a dirty solenoid. Cleaned it (not replaced) and it fixed the problem….that right there saved me $140. Damn near paid for itself on the first day.

Certainly is a good tool that seems to be pretty reliable and easier to use than a PC based system. I carry mine in my car and you just plug it up and start checking systems out.

Foxwell NT1001 TPMS Trigger Tool Feedback – work and not work list

Here a collection of Foxwell NT1001 TPMS Trigger Tool Feedback about what it can work and not work. Hope it helps.

Work list:

Easy to use for resetting the TPMS sensors on our 2013 Cruze. Told me all the info I would want about the wheel sensors, too. The remote control detector was a little iffy though. I tried it with a known good remote and it took a while and several tries to get it to register. The directions on how to use this part were sketchy so maybe I was using it wrong.

Can do 2014 gm vehicles

It works on both 4 and 5 wheel sensors so if your truck has the sensor in the spare also this will take care of it.
