Experience on Foxwell NT510 Land Rover software from FoxwellTechshop.com

This is a diary which records my personal experience on Foxwell NT510 scaner with Land Rover software bought from foxwelltechshop.com

Let’s start.

Sep 1, 2016 update:

I just ordered the Foxwell NT510 scanner, I want it to add Land Rover https://www.foxwelltechshop.com/wholesale/nt510-multi-system-scanner-with-one-fre-car-brand-software-and-obd.htmlsoftware, I bought from foxwelltechshop.com which is authorized dealer at China,Order #FW160830XXXXX, and I am waiting for it to arrive. I will send them the serial number when I receive it as requested. It is still waiting to be picked up by UPS.

This is what message Foxwellshop email me after I order:

“Thanks for your order on our website for NT510 software.

Please provide us serial number of your NT510 so that we can add Land Rover software to your device.

Sep 8, 2016 update:

I received my NT510 scanner today, the serial number is NV516050XXXXX, I message to foxwellshop salesperson and asking them tell me how I can download the software. I have my Foxwell account.

Sep 12, 2016 update:

They reply me Land Rover software has added, now I can go download software and update.

Finally, it’s working.

Foxwell BT705 Battery analyzer change from 500 CCA (default) to 800 CCA

At Sep 9, 2016, I sent email to foxwelltechshop.com Grace, I questioned “I just bought your BT-705 battery analyzer. Question about selecting CCA before the test. Is there any way I can fix other number than 500 CCA?”

In another word, I would like to know if I can set the default CCA number at 800 CCA and not 500 CCA (default number set in BT-705 before every test).

My batteries are 800 CCA and I make 30+ tests/day. Every test I run I have to change from 500 CCA (default) to 800 CCA. I want to set this number on 800 CCA by default.

Finally, I was told Foxwell BT705 is not allowed to set a default value.

Anyway I am happy with Foxwell BT705 for what it works.

Foxwell BT705 is very well constructed and the buttons are firm. The outer case is ruggedized and seems like it would hold up to standard wear and tear.

This BT705 battery tester looks and feels rugged, includes some very useful features, the cable has a nice hefty silicon jacket, and includes a nice blow molded case. The cord is long enough (7′) to allows me to do the “Start” and “Load Tests” from inside of the vehicles.

I tested this out on 4 different cars with known good systems and all came back accurate. They either tested bad or charge and retest. BT705 tool is laid out well and the interface is very user friendly.

The manual was written well with easy to understand instructions.

In a word, the industry standard for electrical millimeters is Fluke however they cost a lot more than this Etekcity multimeter. I plan on keeping this around for use around the house.

FoxWell NT301 code reader Feedback (with most Pics)

NT301 target users: FoxWell NT301 CAN EOBD OBDII code reader is a great engine only EOBD unit for someone new to car diagnostics and wants just a little more functionality than a simple code reader. For those who already have more advanced PC based scan tools or other advanced tools that you do not want to carry all the time with you, especially when away on holiday, then the Foxwell NT301 is an ideal backup tool to keep in the car for emergency use.

NT301 outlook is good made:

FoxWell NT301 unit is reasonably well constructed and should survive the odd knock or two. The screen is clear and the keyboard firm and positive to use. As the keyboard is not of the membrane type then I guess one should keep liquids/fluid away from it.
(Tip: Go to last paragraph for the detailed unit and PCB pictures )
The EOBD connecting lead is of adequate length and well finished with moulded strain reliefs at both ends.

The on-board HELP is very limited but the User Manual is concise and informative so not too much to complain about really.

The three dedicated LEDs (Green – all Ok, Yellow – pending DTCs, Red – firm DTCs – MIL light activate) give a great quick guide as to vehicle EOBD status.

NT301 Update:
The lifetime free software updates are a big bonus. Although a scan tool of this type only focusses/dedicates itself to EOBD diagnostics and regular updating is not required the ability and access to free updates is most welcome.

Problems/Issues:

No show stoppers however on my unit and with the USB lead supplied I found that the hole in the grip surround was just a little to small making the USB connection intermittent. However opening the whole up a little allowed the plug to go fully home.

Case study:

My 14 year faithful old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v suddenly started to lose power and idle erratically and the engine fault light came on. Not knowing much about modern fuel injection systems. I read on the Picasso Owners forum about code readers and bought this one. To cut along story short, it worked !!! The codes showed the EGR valve and the fuel injectors to be the possible causes. The EGR valve was full of hard deposits, easily cleaned though. The fuel injectors will be cleaned or replaced. The car is running quite well now and averages about 38 mpg in the rural area were I live . Motor service outfits where I live charge about £40 to examine the codes logged on a cars computer, goodness knows what a Citroen Agency would charge! The NT301 is well made and sturdy and I had no problems installing the software on my computer.

Where to get FoxWell NT301 code reader
As I have found in the past, foxwelltechshop.com support is excellent which is why I have bought several products from them over the past months.

In a conclusion:

Good little scan tool, great support and price acceptable.

Foxwell NT630 review on Mercedes Benz CLK320 SRS light and Ford Falcon ABS warning light

Got one Foxwell NT630 ABS Airbag Reset Tool aiming to clear the SRS light and malfunction warning on my 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK320 and ABS warning light illuminated & brakes not operating on Ford Falcon BA V8

Part 1: Foxwell NT630 review on 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK320 SRS light

Issue description:

I induced the warning light back several days ago when I decided to replace a couple of stepper (never again!) motors so I knew that I wasn’t looking for a hard fault.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I can confirm that Foxwell NT630 did it and it was pretty straight forward to use. No other faults picked up on the car so I can’t comment any further on its performance. Foxwell NT630 is supposed to support most vehicles up to 2013 and compatible with both OBDI and OBDII cars, SUVs, minivans, light-duty trucks sold worldwide. So hopefully I’m future proofed for a few years. $179 cheaper than ebay, I will have chance to use it on other vehicle models. Foxwell NT630 is claimed to be compatible with most vehicles from America, Asia and Europe, if you are a professional technician, it can’t be more suitable.

Part 2: Foxwell NT630 review on Ford Falcon BA V8 ABS warning light illuminated and brakes not operating

Car model and year:

Ford Falcon BA V8

Issue description:

Because of the safety of functional and safe brake operation, the ABS Module (and the SRS Module) does a self test by supplying voltages to each pin and measuring the voltage (the short version) on its corresponding return pin. In an instance when the voltage is not within its specified parameters -IE. Too High, Too Low, Missing, The ABS module then determines the relevant fault and deactivates the ABS system and illuminated the ABS warning light, which happens during each key cycle. This is why the light illuminates when the key turns on.

Tool to use:

FoxWell NT630 AutoMaster Pro ABS Airbag Reset Tool, got from foxwelltechshop.com with price $169 Free Shipping

Procedure:

1 Navigates to the NT630 diagnostic menu of BA ford falcon, and read out the fault code “C1155 LHF Wheel Speed Sensor”

2 turn the ignition on. Reset the fault code after ABS module self test.

3 graph the left and right front wheel sensors from the live data menu with NT630. (The output of the LHF wheel speed sensor was flat line at the time of driving.

4 find the sensor is in fact open circuited after get access to the wheel speed sensor and a quick resistance.

Foxwell NT644 reviews on EPB, oil reset, DPF, SAS and Bi-directional control tests

Foxwell NT644 – great professional service, tool arrived as scheduled delivery. Comes with a long lead so you can take the tool to the chassis number when needed. Great tool for its price, get one, you wont regret it and you will be stunned what it has to offer.

Already used on several vehicles 2008, 2011 Mondeos, 2011 Ka. Works well, no issues at present. Even discovered DTCs in my vehicles HVAC and Audio modules I did not know were present.

Test EPB function on 2012 year Porsche –yes

2014 Isuzu mux lst diesel 12V, Australian – No.

Cover abs and airbag on Australian ford and Toyota hybrid Camry – yes

(Tip: the workable year is different from one model to other; it covers up to 2015 year).

Foxwell NT644 can’t cover DPF, SAS, Bi-directional control tests

(Tip: Foxwell NT510 support SAS and Bi-directional control tests)
And the support is tops. I had a commodore in, was surging at light throttle on the freeway, there were no fault codes set. I asked a few mechanic mates, they all said no idea. I called the guys at Foxwell, they asked me to describe the fault and said straight away to check the EGR system, he told me to disconnect it to see if the problem goes away when you drive it. it did.

The tool is awesome, but it’s also great to be able to call those guys and just get a second opinion.

How to use Foxwell NT624 to diagnose Nissan 2001 GU Patrol (Y61)?

Car model and year:

Nissan 2001 GU Patrol (Y61) with a 4.8 lt petrol

Symptom:

Kept going into limp home mode and could not drive it (well).

Nissan Scanner to use:

Foxwell NT624 scanner

Reason to use: It did an auto scan of all the control units on the Nissan pretty quickly. All my diag tools are laptop based and it’s a bit of a pain dragging the laptop out and waiting for it to boot up just to reset a service light or something, so having a stand alone tool like this for quick & dirty diagnosis & resets would be pretty good.

Trouble code to read out:

We fist checked the engine ECU for fault codes. we found:

PO134 H02S1 (B1) – Heated O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1

P1122 ETC FUNCTION/CRC – Throttle Body Actuation -Electronic Traction Control

P1123 ETC Mot RLY/CRC – Electronic Traction Control – Motor Relay

As per usual we cleared the codes in case they where caused during a previous inspection / repair.

Clearing the codes left the fault code:

P1122 ETC FUNCTION/CRC – Throttle Body Actuation -Electronic Traction Control

A quick check of the live data for the Throttle Body motor, when graphed against the Throttle Position Sensor, revealed that the throttle body motor was in-fact intermittently faulty. Causing a correlation error -Throttle position sensor not accurately reflecting the a accelerator position sensor.

Next we decided to do a quick check on the fault code:

PO134 H02S1 (B1) – Heated O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1

As this would take a drive cycle (potentially) to reset. We naviaged to the live data for the both O2 Sensors and graphed them together. With O2 Sensors, the general rule of thumb is to see them switch between rich and lean (0.1 -ish- and 0.9 -ish- Volts) around 8 times over 10 seconds at 2000 rpm. Watching each O2 sensor signal we counted the crosses (switching between 0.1 – 0.9) and found that wile the bank 2 (rear) sensor was crossing around 5 times (a lazy sensor) the bank 1 (front) was struggling to make 3 crosses. Both sensors where more often on the lean side. So although not technically a current fault, I suggested that Troy also replace his O2 sensors as they are both currently lazy -one more so than the other- and likely to need replacement in the future.

Where I got Foxwell NT624 scanner?

I ordered NT624 scanner at foxwelltechshop.com which is an authorized dealer at China, the dealer response to my email and message quickly and kindly, I receive my package by DHL for 4 days to UK. It allows me to update at foxwelltech.com for 18-month free. I was charged £200 free shipping; to me it’s worth the money.

Foxwell NT510 scanner review on BMW E60 M5, VW golf 05 and GM 05 malibu

I bought Foxwell NT510 multi-system scan tool at China foxwelltechshop.com based on a small handful of good reviews (but few negatives ones). Thus far I am satisfied. Registered a user name and download the GM software, after that I pay additional BMW and VAG software. I would like to share here my personal experience on this NT510 scanner.

NT510 scanner review on BMW E60 M5:

I got the BMW program & was amazed at how much it does! The Foxwell NT510 interface is very easy and straight forward.I was having some unexplained problems with my E60 M5(Like everyone else) And Foxwell NT510 was able to read the BMW specific modules very easily and help me diagnose the problems. You will ultimately save money owning this. It is small, and you will feel like a pro being able to read, and reset the BMW specific codes. This is far beyond a regular OBDII scanner.

You can also preform BMW maintenance functions such as registering a new battery, read and clear adaptations, activate and test all of the modules individually, engage the transmission, among many others.

This is the best scan tool for BMW DIYers i have come across so i’m sure it’s great for the other makes’ programs too. Highly recommend!

NT510 scanner review on 2005 vw golf:

NT510 tool is freakin’ awesome on the VW/Audi cars! It is able to adjust the electronic throttle on a 2005 vw golf. It did the job with ease. The number of things it can check and adjust is pretty amazing. It’s easy to use, and you really don’t need an instruction manual. I frankly expected less, but was pleasantly surprised by a very comprehensive menu.

NT510 scanner review on For GM 05 malibu:

I’m using Foxwell NT510 for GM. The website would not recognize the serial number when I tried to register the tool, but that was solved in a timely manner by an email to foxwelltech.com . I was able to download the GM software (not pre-installed, but free once the tool is registered).

All functions seem to work well. I tried NT510 on GM 05 malibu, it will autoconnect / read the VIN on my 05 malibu.

It will not auto-read my 03 gmc, but I know it is a “K” series so that is easy to enter manually 08 Acadia will not auto, and it is a “lambda” and that isn’t one of the choices. I haven’t contacted anyone, but reviews say that the mfgr is responsive.

I can see all the ABS and SRS data. I haven’t tried anything like the Throttle body cal or abs auto-bleed, but the options exist.

I did try to calibrate tire size on the 03 gmc, and it didn’t work. Again I have not had the time to work through tech support yet.

Overall happy with the purchase

In conclusion:

Foxwell NT510 is great! There is no VIN lock so it can be used on as many vehicles as you want for the make you buy plus works as universal OBD for generic like check engine.

Foxwell NT414 feedback on Jaguar ABS, Peugeot Gearbox and Toyota SRS

My 1999 Jaguar S type goes into Failsafe Engine Mode, the helpful chap at foxwelltechshop.com recommended NT414 scanner beast he was spot on. Plugged in the scanner hey presto a list of error codes and their translations! Perfect – off to buy a new pedal position sensor.

Also has worked on Jaguar ABS, Peugeot Auto Gearbox, Toyota airbag, early Zafira Diesel engine codes.

This foxwell NT414 tool is great – easy to use and well documented.

Obviously the more you pay the more you get when it comes to scanners. The NT414 strikes a nice balance between cost and performance. Its good enough to be used at a small business like mine but cheap to be bought by the keen home mechanic.

Compare with Foxwell NT624 scanner and NT644 scanner:

Foxwell NT414 is 4 systems only (ECU, ABS, Airbag and Transmission).

If you want ALL makes & ALL Systems you should get Foxwell NT 624 or NT644. 624 hasn’t got EPB & Oil reset functions. For a DIYer 624 is more then enough. For a garage one would need EPB & Oil reset, so I would advice NT644. If you want European only & All System, then go for NT 622.
My friend own NT644 & it is a great tool. he have scanned numerous cars & it does what it says. Most importantly it speaks fluently MB language……… he is very happy with it.
Where did I get Foxwell NT414 Scanner from?

There is not only one shop online who will sell you Foxwell items.

Therefore it is always nice to have a company recommended that someone has experience with.

This is the people I bought my Foxwell NT414 scanner from foxwelltechshop.com
I’m sure they are not the most expensive and also not lowest price and but they did answer all of my emails in 24 hours and my order only took 7 working days to arrive. Their orders can be tracked online so you know where it is.

How to Use FoxWell NT301 Code Reader Fix Old Citroen Xsara Picasso Lose Power

Here I would like to share my little review on this little great tool. I used FoxWell NT301 CAN OBDII EOBD code reader to diagnose old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v when it started to lose power and idle erratically and the engine fault light came on.

I have one 14 year faithful old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v, it suddenly began to lose power and idle occasionally and the engine warning light came on. I am not very familiar with the modern fuel injection systems. I read on the Picasso Owners forum about code readers and bought FoxWell NT301 from foxwelltechshop.com. I verified it worked. It read out the fault code and suggests the EGR valve and the fuel injectors to be the possible causes. The EGR valve was full of hard deposits, easily cleaned though. The fuel injectors will be cleaned or replaced. The car is running quite well now and averages about 38 mpg in the rural area where I live. Motor service outfits where I live charge about £40 to examine the codes logged on a cars computer, The Foxwell NT301 is well made and sturdy and I had no problems installing the software on my computer.

Following parts are more details I feel about FoxWell NT301 code reader.

Outlook and using tips:

Received FoxWell NT301 packed with a little carry case, it is a nice addition

Foxwell NT301 is reasonably well constructed and should survive the odd knock or two. The screen is clear and the keyboard firm and positive to use. As the keyboard is not of the membrane type then I guess one should keep liquids/fluid away from it.
