Conclusion:

Foxwell NT301 did not trouble back, but it not a big deal. But overall this item is great, very easy to hold on too, easy to read with the screen, did many systems, easy follow with the screen DTC look up diagnostic codes, and here the keyboard is nice artistic and press easily, and having a firm cord connecting to the vehicle, if you use this one for only repair, it would cost-effective, so yes I would recommend this.

(Review ) Foxwell NT301 Customer Real Experience

Here is the real customer feedback for Foxwell NT301 scanner

  • This NT301 OBDII scan tool I paid $65 bought from FoxwellTechshop.com has a large color LCD display to make navigation very simple and easy. The tool is protected by a rubber surround to absorb any minor shock from use. The unit does not require any batteries to operate.
  • Most cars manufactured from 1996 will support OBDII diagnostic. All you need to do is plug it into your car’s OBDII (DLC) port and it will power up using the car’s power. You can then start the vehicle to read any trouble codes or pending codes. If there are trouble codes, you can use this tool to erase the code. Of course you should fix the issue or else the code will return.
  • The tool also have quick access buttons to read codes, erase codes, and I/M readiness check. There are 3 LEDs in the middle of the screen to show you if you have any trouble codes, or pending codes along with audible beeps. If you want to venture into more advanced features, this tool is able to show live data and record data. You can also connect the unit to a computer with the included USB cable to print the test result. There is an option to look up definition of trouble codes simply by entering the trouble code. Once you are done, just unplug the unit from the car and put away the tool. Can’t be any simpler. Overall it’s a well designed tool for all the DIYers.
  • I had trouble initially with this code reader, it worked fine with my VW and then i used it on my Dodge and had errors connecting to the OBD system, same thing on my Ford. Well I am pleased to say I was able to do an update on the unit which made it function properly again!
  • The scan tool works as advertised. It connects to the vehicle easily and the tool is easy to operate. The only problem I have with the unit so far is the USB cable that came with the unit, the mini end that goes to the tool does not go far enough in to stay connected. I had to dig out another cable I had here that had a mini end that was a few millimeters longer and it works great. The cable on the left, in the picture, is a cable that I had at the house and the one on the right was the one that came with the product. You can see a slight length difference.
  • Its just enough to keep the cable from completely connecting.

FoxWell NT301 code reader Feedback (with most Pics)

NT301 target users: FoxWell NT301 CAN EOBD OBDII code reader is a great engine only EOBD unit for someone new to car diagnostics and wants just a little more functionality than a simple code reader. For those who already have more advanced PC based scan tools or other advanced tools that you do not want to carry all the time with you, especially when away on holiday, then the Foxwell NT301 is an ideal backup tool to keep in the car for emergency use.

NT301 outlook is good made:

FoxWell NT301 unit is reasonably well constructed and should survive the odd knock or two. The screen is clear and the keyboard firm and positive to use. As the keyboard is not of the membrane type then I guess one should keep liquids/fluid away from it.
(Tip: Go to last paragraph for the detailed unit and PCB pictures )
The EOBD connecting lead is of adequate length and well finished with moulded strain reliefs at both ends.

The on-board HELP is very limited but the User Manual is concise and informative so not too much to complain about really.

The three dedicated LEDs (Green – all Ok, Yellow – pending DTCs, Red – firm DTCs – MIL light activate) give a great quick guide as to vehicle EOBD status.

NT301 Update:
The lifetime free software updates are a big bonus. Although a scan tool of this type only focusses/dedicates itself to EOBD diagnostics and regular updating is not required the ability and access to free updates is most welcome.

Problems/Issues:

No show stoppers however on my unit and with the USB lead supplied I found that the hole in the grip surround was just a little to small making the USB connection intermittent. However opening the whole up a little allowed the plug to go fully home.

Case study:

My 14 year faithful old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v suddenly started to lose power and idle erratically and the engine fault light came on. Not knowing much about modern fuel injection systems. I read on the Picasso Owners forum about code readers and bought this one. To cut along story short, it worked !!! The codes showed the EGR valve and the fuel injectors to be the possible causes. The EGR valve was full of hard deposits, easily cleaned though. The fuel injectors will be cleaned or replaced. The car is running quite well now and averages about 38 mpg in the rural area were I live . Motor service outfits where I live charge about £40 to examine the codes logged on a cars computer, goodness knows what a Citroen Agency would charge! The NT301 is well made and sturdy and I had no problems installing the software on my computer.

Where to get FoxWell NT301 code reader
As I have found in the past, foxwelltechshop.com support is excellent which is why I have bought several products from them over the past months.

In a conclusion:

Good little scan tool, great support and price acceptable.

How to Use FoxWell NT301 Code Reader Fix Old Citroen Xsara Picasso Lose Power

Here I would like to share my little review on this little great tool. I used FoxWell NT301 CAN OBDII EOBD code reader to diagnose old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v when it started to lose power and idle erratically and the engine fault light came on.

I have one 14 year faithful old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8l 16v, it suddenly began to lose power and idle occasionally and the engine warning light came on. I am not very familiar with the modern fuel injection systems. I read on the Picasso Owners forum about code readers and bought FoxWell NT301 from foxwelltechshop.com. I verified it worked. It read out the fault code and suggests the EGR valve and the fuel injectors to be the possible causes. The EGR valve was full of hard deposits, easily cleaned though. The fuel injectors will be cleaned or replaced. The car is running quite well now and averages about 38 mpg in the rural area where I live. Motor service outfits where I live charge about £40 to examine the codes logged on a cars computer, The Foxwell NT301 is well made and sturdy and I had no problems installing the software on my computer.
